Robert Kiama Biography
Robert Kiama is a trailblazing smallholder farmer and the Founder and CEO of *Fight Eliminate Hunger Initiative*, where he focuses on developing strategies and policy responses to tackle critical issues such as water allocation, land use, food trade, and post-harvest food processing in Kenya. A graduate of the Kenya Medical Training College, Robert shifted his focus to agriculture in 2016 when he discovered the potential of industrial hemp to revolutionize farming and address food security challenges in Kenya.
Despite cannabis species being illegal in the country, Robert was granted special permission by the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Services (KEPHIS) to introduce and cultivate hemp under strict monitoring. Since then, he has been at the forefront of hemp research, advocating for its environmental and economic benefits. Through his leadership at *Hemp Kenya*, Robert has worked to develop the hemp industry, managing hemp farms and promoting regenerative organic farming practices to combat poverty and improve livelihoods in rural communities.
With a passion for using hemp as a sustainable solution to end poverty in Kenya, Robert has become a key advocate for the crop’s potential to provide food, fiber, and fuel. His dedication to the development of the hemp sector positions him as a visionary leader in Kenya’s agricultural future.
